Obituary for Sharon Lee Wadsworth

HOPE – Sharon Lee Howlett Wadsworth left our earth after a four-year, gallant battle with cancer, and entered Heaven November 18, 2018, at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Born in Bristol, Connecticut, February 22, 1948, she was the daughter of Duane L. and Gladys Grierson Howlett. At an early age she moved to Rockland, where she attended local schools and was a 1966 graduate of Rockland District High School.
Shortly thereafter, she married Kirk A. Wadsworth on August 14, 1966 and they made their home in Rockport near her parents. For the past 25 years they lived in Hope.

Although Sharon worked at a number of jobs, she was committed to each for several years. Her career started as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Dalrymple in Camden, working there 13 years, and for seven years at the former Sears & Roebuck store in Rockland, as a ‘big ticket salesperson’. More recently, Sharon found her niche as a kitchen and bath designer for (EBS) Ellsworth Building Supply, now Hammond Lumber in Rockland, where she helped people all over the coast for 24 years designing their homes.

Her family was Sharon’s No. 1 priority. She also enjoyed being outside, made evident when she and Kirk bought a tiny one room camp ‘up North’. Eventually they acquired a beautiful lake house, which is where they could be found (or not) boating, fishing, enjoying sunsets and campfires for the last few years. Sharon made any house a home, even while camping. She loved riding her ATV and spending time with her many friends and loving family. She will be greatly missed as a wife of over 50 years to Kirk, and treasured mother to Tony.

Sharon is survived by her husband Kirk Wadsworth, Sr. of Hope; their son, Tony Wadsworth (Kirk, Jr.) and his fiancée Chandra Pitcher of Rockport; grandson Alden Wadsworth, and Chandra’s daughter Sophia, as well as brother-in-law Charles Wadsworth of Waldoboro and niece Debra Benner of Appleton.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sussman House for their wonderful care and support during Sharon’s multiple stays.

A gathering of love, support and memories, will be held at 11:00am, Friday, November 23, 2018 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. The Reverend Kenneth Dale, Hospice Chaplain, will officiate. Interment will be in Rockville Cemetery, Rockport.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, Development Office, MMC, 22 Bramhall Street, Portland, ME 04102.
