Obituary for Paul G. Packard
LINCOLNVILLE – Paul G. Packard, 77, died peacefully, following a period of declining health, Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at North Lights Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Born in Farmington, Paul was adopted by Cloyd and Gladys Heald Packard and grew up in Lincolnville where he attended local schools. He later graduated from Camden High School.
Serving in the U.S. Army, Paul was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict.
In 1987, Paul met Doris Converse Toleos. The pair was married in November 1998 and have made their home in Lincolnville their entire married life. Together they enjoyed a honeymoon in Georgia, building a Habitat for Humanity Home.
Paul was a lover of animals, especially his dogs and cats, including all of the feral cats he fed. He even built glass birdhouses so he could watch the birds as they ate.
For many years he was self-employed as a welder. He also enjoyed working around his home on his many tractors, all of which had names.
When not at home, Paul could often be found having breakfast at the Route 52 Diner, now Drake’s Corner. He had a dry wit and sense of humor and his family remembers he was always ready with a wise-crack. He will be sadly missed.
Mr. Packard is survived by his wife, Doris Packard of Lincolnville and her six children, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; as well as his own sons, Tim Parker and his wife Cindy, Jim Parker and his wife; and several grandchildren.
Mr. Packard’s family has chosen to remember his life privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PAWS Animal Adoption Center, 123 John Street, Camden, Maine 04843.
