Obituary for William "Will" Bunker

VINALHAVEN – William Gilchrist ‘Will’ Bunker, left us all too soon, Sunday, May 26, 2019.

Will was the owner of Bunker’s Trucking and Bunker’s L.P. Gas. He could drive a tractor-trailer like others drive a compact car. Driving a truck just came natural to him. He probably plowed through the gates of heaven driving 18 wheels at full speed. Will loved Golden Retrievers, especially Buddy, Bear, and Honey. He also loved his M&M’s and Budweiser.

He didn’t have much interest in other’s opinions, what he loved best was spending time with his drinking buddies, talking about music trivia or any other subject they could come up with. This would sometimes entail a ‘phone-a-friend’ when no one could come up with the answer. Everyone who knew Will has more than one ‘Will Story’ and we hope these are told over and over and laughed at with every telling.

Despite his gruff exterior, his bark was worse than his bite. He would do anything to help anybody that he liked. Will’s heart, though it was broken, was pure gold.

Will was the son of Michael, Sr. and Patricia Calderwood Bunker. He was born January 17, 1966. He was predeceased by his mother less than two months ago. He is survived by his father; two brothers, Michael Bunker, Jr. and his wife Lorraine, Loren Bunker and his wife Angie; three nieces; three nephews; three great-nephews and a great-niece.

A graveside committal will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2019 at Brown’s Head Cemetery, Vinalhaven. Donations in Will’s memory may be made to the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. box 1294, Rockland, Maine 04841.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
