Obituary for Robert Edward Grierson

South Thomaston- Robert “Bobby” Grierson,70, passed away May 27, 2019 after a long illness.

Bobby was born December 17, 1948 in Owl’s Head to Beverly and Arthur Grierson. Right out of school he began working at FMC for several years before being drafted in the Army. He served his country during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Corporal. After being discharged, he returned to work at FMC as a machine operator where he was employed for 32 years. Bobby finished out his career as a Jail Guard at Knox County Correctional Facility.

Bobby was very active in his community. He served the town of South Thomaston as the Animal Control Officer, Town Constable, Ambulance Director, Selectman, Member of the Lions Club, Scout Master for the Boy Scouts and was a Firefighter for over 40 years.

On January 14, 1984, Bobby married the love of his life, Darlene Winchenbach. They made their home in South Thomaston for 35 years, where they raised their only child Ashley.

Bobby enjoyed spending time with his family whether it was camping, attending the Highland Games, or going to the Firefighter Conventions with his brother Arthur and his nephew David. He also enjoyed camping trips with his church family, cookouts at his home where he enjoyed cooking for everyone. His family said he was famous for his spaghetti.

Bobby was predeceased by his parents, sister Joanne Drinkwater of South Thomaston and sister Dori Grierson-Faust of Owl’s Head.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife Darlene; daughter Ashley and her children Angel, Christopher and Roland, all of South Thomaston; his brothers, Arthur Grierson of South Thomaston, Clint Grierson and his wife Arlene of New York; his sister, Shari Elwell and her companion Fred Cushman of Spruce Head, as well as nieces and nephews; David Elwell, Adam Grierson, Jamie Jean, Brett Jean, Jonathon Grierson, Daniel Grierson, Thomas Grierson, Athena Grierson, and Joseph Bailey.

A Celebration of Bobby’s Life will be held on June 15, 2019 at 2pm at Grace Bible Fellowship, 30 Sherer Lane in Rockland.
