Obituary for Lance Kendall McLain

OWLS HEAD – Lance Kendall McLain, 52, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Owls Head on Thursday, August 1, 2019. Born in Aberdeen, Maryland at Kirk Army Hospital on January 3, 1967 to Kendall and Brenda Fogarty McLain, he would be educated in local schools after his family returned to Maine following his father’s military service.

From a young age Lance became an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to collect guns, go four wheeling and enjoyed his archery set as well. His love for hunting would often find him taking advantage of all the hunting season had to offer from bow hunting to muzzleloader. He was especially fond of a muzzleloader his father built for him. He passed on his love for the outdoors to his son, Andrew, who he especially loved spending time with enjoying many hunting, fishing and four wheeling excursions. He was also a member of the Knox County Fish and Game Association.

A welder by trade, Lance worked for many years as a welder and fabricator for Fisher Engineering in Rockland and as a Sternman for several Lobsterman in the area. He loved being on the water and enjoyed lobstering so much he aspired to be a full time Lobsterman with his own boat.

Predeceased by his father, he is survived by his mother Brenda McLain of Owls Head; his son Andrew McLain of Pleasant Point; his grandmother Helen (Nan-Tan) Wing of Owls Head; a sister Amy McLain and her partner Matthew Nelson of South Thomaston; two aunts, Marion Makie and her husband Ronald of Owls Head, and Paulette Thompson of Augusta; an uncle Robert Fogarty of Warren; and a special cousin Lisa Pinkham of Damariscotta.
