Obituary for Missy Eaton

ROCKLAND – Melissa L. ‘Missy’ Eaton, 37, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at the Sussman Hospice House, Tuesday, February 26, 2019, following a long battle with cardiac disease.

Born June 15, 1981 in Rockport, she was the daughter of Charles and Terry Gould Upham. Growing up in the Nobleboro area, Missy graduated from Coastal Christian School.

In 2005 Missy married the love of her life, Michael Eaton. Blending their families, they later added two more boys to the mix.

Missy loved sewing and knitting and was always making baby blankets for family members. Walking on the beach and collecting sea glass was another favorite pastime. Missy’s number one priority in life was her children and family. She loved nothing more than family get together. When her sickness prohibited her from participating in family activities, she could often be found ‘supervising’ the playing in the yard or raking of the lawn. She always made sure they got each and every leaf. Missy had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her tiny Chiweenie ‘Bear’.

Although she was a quiet person, she loved a good laugh, and when she found something funny, she found it funny for hours at a time. Taking pictures of family and friends kept her busy and she had thousands of photos on her phone.
She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Predeceased by her father, Missy is survived by her mother Terry Gould and her companion Dennis Wadford of Nobleboro; her husband Michael Eaton of Rockland; her sons, Jonathan Corey of Nobleoboro, Alexander ‘Xander’ Eaton and Michael C. Eaton both of Rockland; her step-parents, Susan and David Vannah of Waldoboro; her mother-in-law and father-in-law Rosemarie and Calvin Hartzell of Rockland; her sisters-in-law, Tammy Oakes of Rockland, Karen Eaton and her companion Greg Bowden of Rockland; a step brother Scott Vannah; and one granddaughter Ava Corey; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Missy’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
