Obituary for Larry Beck

ROCKLAND - Larry K. Beck, 77, died of heart failure, Monday, November 5, 2018 at his home.

Born in Venus, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Raymond S. and Grace B. Bigley Beck. Growing up in Bradford, Pennsylvania, he attended Bradford High School, and graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Philosophy. Later he earned his Master's Degree from the Pennsylvania State University and served as Professor of Philosophy at the Dubois campus of Penn State. He also attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he also taught.

Larry served as Editor in Chief of 'Engineers' Digest'. His job led him to travel all over the country and to reside in Kansas City, Cleveland, and several locations in Massachusetts and Maine. He ran a private consulting and editing company, LK Beck Associates, toward the end of his working career.

Settling in Maine in the early 2000's, he was an active member of the Rockland community. He was a participant at both the Rockland Congregational Church and the First Universalist Church of Rockland. He also enjoyed singing with the Midcoast Community Choir and rowing with the Rockland Rowing Club.

Predeceased by two brothers, Jay Beck who was M.I.A. in Korea and James Beck, Larry is survived by his sons, Martin K. Beck and his wife Deborah of Attleboro, MA, and Christopher L. Beck of Falmouth, MA; his bother Richard Beck and his wife Dolores of Whitney Point, NY; his first wife and mother of his children, Judith Andrade of Falmouth, MA; his second former wife Rev. Danielle DiBona of Rockland, MA; his grandchildren, Kevin and Anna Beck, of Attleboro, MA; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Larry will be sadly missed by all who loved him.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2018 at Rockland Congregational Church, 180 Broadway, Rockland. The Reverend Seth D. Jones will officiate.
